In recent days, everyone has become amateur psychoanalysts and terrorist experts; we’ve done our best Sigmund Freud impression and even dabble with theology to explain why two men brutally murdered an innocent person and candidly spoke to bystanders after the barbarism. The calm and direct explanation for the crime is hard for us to understand and accept. It is rather simply to present a 1400 year old book as evidence for twisting the fragile human mind; the average person might find it easier to accept than the possibility of their being no answer or reason for evil.

I’m an atheist; I reject the principle of a single, spiritual entity at the centre of all creation and the universe. Of course, an atheist can never disprove the existence of God 100%, but the evidence points to it being highly unlikely. It would be even more naïve of me to suggest every act of malevolence and negative aspects of humanity was down to religion. Individuals have, and will continue to, invoke the word of God to justify the most horrendous crimes possible; but if someone is hell bent on destruction then they’ll use any means necessary to give it credence.

Serial killers, according to studies, tend to be highly intelligent people with a unique ability to manipulate and influence others. Yet, underneath the surface, they have an irrational and illogical interpretation of reality and struggle to tell the difference between that and fantasy. But, even with this primitive profile and analysis, we still don’t know what encourages them to kill multiple people. The evil is a black, meaningless void that can never be discovered.

Humans are capable of marvellously and truly awesome feats; we’ve put a man on a extraterrestrial object, cured diseases and have the ability to provide extraordinary love to our fellow humans. On the other hand, though, we have the power to destroy civilisations, slaughter entire populations within a matter of moments and poison the planet. As a species, humans are deeply flawed and imperfect; we’re continually evolving and adapting to our environment. Our intelligence is still very primitive and many concepts are still a mystery; human behaviour is one of them.

I don’t know why two men hacked a solider to pieces on a London street and neither do the readers of this article. We may know the word evil, but we will never understand its true meaning. Unfortunately, we shall always encounter this dark foe haunting our lives and lurking in the background. I recognise it is a sad reflection, but we will never know why humans commit such evil acts.

After taking 23% of the national share of the vote and electing 150 odd councillors, the political class responded to UKIP (and those who voted for the party) with sheer contempt. The Conservatives were patronising, Labour just ignored the result and claim it showed Miliband was wining the argument; the Liberal Democrats were extremely arrogant and almost insulting.

The gulf between the establishment and ordinary people is extraordinary. This professionalised political class cannot relate to the real world; majority of them have only experience careers in politics and being apart of a political machine. And the majority are almost educated to a university standard – unlike the rest of society. MP’s, with their subsidised lifestyles, are incapable of understanding the life of the man in the pub. In fact the man in the pub is a problem to politicians; his attitudes and political views are alien and almost at odds with the political consensus at Westminster.

If you eat, drink or smoke too much then the state does not like you. Somewhere in Whitehall, a Minister has decided your habits need government intervention. Whether you like it or not. Reject it, then suffer the consequences of your sinful ways costing an extra couple of pounds. We distaste the ‘nanny state’ and the government are consciously aware of the consequences of its actions. But it still continues to poke us with a stick.

These social engineering policies, a desire to create a perfect society, are another reason why people rebelled against the establishment and voted UKIP.

But, still, 60+% of us didn’t vote in the Local Elections. People have become so disillusioned with the whole circus that voting has become irrelevant. We’ve stopped caring a long time ago. And so has Westminster.

The partisan nature of our politics and the ever growing ‘hate’ towards different opinions is too much for me. All are entitled to freedom of speech and expression, but the post-Leveson climate makes it almost impossible. Democracy is being undermined by mob rule; the endless abuse for opposing or presenting an alternative idea is a sin, according to a minority.

I’m tired of the whole circus and worried, too. The whole climate is dangerous. British politics is becoming extremely vile and hostile to the point of all out partisan war. We’ve had people protesting and celebrating a death of an old lady just because a few didn’t like her politics. Others hoped the police, or members of the general public, would physically hurt or injury protesters. What the hell has happened to this country?

I disagree with many positions of Ed Miliband, but I don’t hate him. It is absurd to judge someone entirely on their politics; I don’t even know the Labour leader or spoke to him in person, yet others simply distaste Miliband because of political association.

Iain Dale inspired me to participate in blogging. Liberal Democrat Voice gave me my first national platform and Huffington Post opened the door to a international audience. Twitter, too, has been extremely beneficial for me. But the ‘hate’ is too much. In the past, I’ve received death threats from abroad (didn’t care at the time), but recent events have made me think about potential effects on my family and friends.

And I’m sick of the endless Twitter Wars. If you disagree with someone, then fine; but flooding their mentions with endless Tweets is obsessive. The blind loyalty to party brands are morphing political debate and dialogue into Soviet propaganda. Question the leadership and risk isolation. That’s the nature of British politics.

Too lib·er·al [adj.] blog will remain open encase I ever have a change of heart, but I highly doubt it. The posts will remain available to read and share, but no new content is planned to be released. I’m done. Finished. Game over.

One of the most vivid memories of my childhood was when I was merely four years old and playing with Lego with my mother. It was a normal day, nothing special, just engaging in some relatively mundane childish activity; at the lunch time ITN News Bulletin, the leading story was a police officer shot and killed by the IRA. That officer was my mother’s own cousin. She was unaware of his death until his picture appeared on the news.

Even if us humans achieved immortality, I doubt we’d be able to conceive the understanding of terrorism and the justification to hold innocents to account. It is grotesquely absurd, but we sadly live in a world where bad things do and can happen on a regular basis; including arbitrary acts of random violence.

Any subject matter, idea or religious doctrine can be turned into a call for arms. The warped reality is individuals who think crimes against innocents can be transformed into revolutionary acts, but the opposite always occurs. One man terrorists is not another mans freedom fighter; violence is violence. It can never be purified or presented into any form of admiration.

A routine sporting event in Boston has been transformed into a graveyard; the marathon will now always be associated with broken hearts and tears. Families were destroyed because someone, or group, had a problem with the United States Federal Government. A pathetic reason and one I will never understand. I’m a libertarian, it is my political belief to always be sceptical towards government, but that distrust is not a vendetta.

The United States has a long history of political terrorism. Many groups and individuals, from the far left and right, have launched terrorist campaigns against Federal and public locations. Every time the political doctrine, which “inspired” the attacks, became alienated by the political mainstream. In other words, political terrorism ends up destroying its own cause more effectively than the government.

Political terrorism never brings about change, only creates chaos.

Haruki Murakami once said, when speaking about the Boston marathon;

I’ve run the Boston Marathon 6 times before. I think the best aspects of the marathon are the beautiful changes of the scenery along the route and the warmth of the people’s support. I feel happier every time I enter this marathon.

Remember those words, not that of the terrorist.

As a political blogger, politics is a wide subject which should create opportunities to write on a variety of topics; the material is endless, with breaking stories providing a new blog post every hour.

But what happens when you find yourself repeating the same complaints and authoring the exact critique over and over again?

There comes a point where you lose the ability to write; not a writers block, or a mental fatigue that clouds intuition and creativity. No, a creeping apathy that poisons your fingers, mind and senses. The nature of our politics has beaten me into submission. I generally cannot write anymore; it is not a struggle, but a refusal to acknowledge British politics.

I’m tired. I’m tired fighting the same fight. Political parties have become mass cults with blind loyalty to dogma and leadership. It is horrifying to witness the individualism stripped from the heart of politics and replaced with mindless drones, repeating words from a predetermined answer. You and I are irrelevant to the decision making; the centralisation of power to the Bank of England and the European Union almost makes democracy redundant. Neither are accountable to us, yet have arguably the most significant authority in the United Kingdom.

Will change ever arrive? I highly doubt it; my cynical attitude concludes the battle is already lost and going on will prove pointless in the long term. But, for now, the pen will be laid to rest after this chapter and the candle shall be blown out.

I’m not going to discuss politics or legacy. But, when I heard Margaret had died, I recalled these words of US President Richard Nixon when he resigned from office:

Always remember that others may hate you but those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.

It perfectly described her Premiership. She truly did not care that some opponents hated her, Thatcher went on to secure three General Election victories and served from 4 May 1979 – 28 November 1990. Longest serving Prime Minister of the 20th Century.

Tony Blair followed the same philosophy, along with the new generation party leaders of Nick Clegg, David Cameron and Ed Miliband – leave the hatred to others. It you desire to lead and bring about true change, then prepare to be hated by some quarters.

The House of Commons, Mother of all Parliaments, has a unique ability of creating great leaders. Churchill, Attlee, Lloyd George, Disraeli, Gladestone, William Pitt the Younger are among her greatest offspring. Margaret Thatcher, rightly or wrongly, joins the fine and exclusive club of great Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I shall not refrain from the honest truth: Mick Philpott is a heartless cunt; his hunger for fame and fortune led to the burnt corpses of six children, who were innocent victims of his fraudulent rescue effort. The welfare state did not create him, nor Britain’s “get rich” culture; the only person to blame is Mick Philpott.

The plot was to be seen as a hero, a father who saved his children from a house fire and be proclaimed a Saviour by his community and the rest of society. His plan failed. The six children have left this world under most horrific and tortuous circumstances. And most tragic of all, their mother was found guilty of being apart of this sadistic plot, along with a family friend.

Six children spent a brief moment upon this Earth and probably never knew the joy of a loving family.

In a way, this is the sort of crime an atheist slightly hopes for the prospect of eternal judgement upon death. But whatever we may think, six children lived in the most darkest and cruelest part of British society – and nobody, including their own mother and father, gave a damn about them.

Eurozone unemployment levels are horrifying. Greece and Spain now have levels far worse than the United States during the Great Depression. In order to save the fortunes of an elite fiat currency, millions of Europeans are being forced in poverty and obscurity just to appease the Bundesbank.

At the 2010 General Election, Labour achieved over 50% of the vote at South Shields and a 11,000 majority. It is the definition of a safe seat; Labour will not lose unless the candidate punches a child during the campaign. In other words, Labour HOLD is guaranteed and an absolute certainty.

But, the biggest question is who comes second?

At the General Election UKIP did not stand a candidate. Tories received 20% of the vote, in second, and the Liberal Democrats finished third with 14%. It is worth noting, however, UKIP have performed considerably well at recent Local and Police Commissioner elections.

Another shock result with the eurosceptic party finishing second cannot be ruled out; the bookies are offering good odds on it happening. This is the biggest test for Nigel and the boys against the Labour party. If the “third force of British politics” is gaining support from old Labour then it should easily eat into Labour’s majority.

A bad night for Ed Miliband will be Labour’s majority cut in half and UKIP going strong in second place. Forget Eastleigh, this will be the moment to tell if a political breakthrough is about to occur.
