The kind folks at Amnesty have sent me information about a new campaign for a arms trade treaty, which is currently being discussed in New York. I’m all in favour of a strong treaty to ensure a sensible and transparent trade of arms on the international market.
Profiting off war and selling arms to dictators, especially those massacring their own people, needs to be prevented. Amnesty have asked me to provide awareness to my readers. So, here you go (sign the petition, too):
I hope you might have noticed, that we’ve been gunning for a strong arms trade treaty. Negotiations are kicking off this weekend in New York, and to drive our point home we took a tank onto the streets of London this week to remind the UK gov of the need to make sure this isn’t just any arms trade treaty – it has to be a bullet proof one.
Please tell your readers about this campaign. You can see a video of us taking the tank to Westminster hereand you can see a classy little animation about the campaign here.
There is a petition for people to sign here.
Hope that’s enough ammunition to get you fired up.
