The director of the SNP’s independence referendum campaign has promised a separate Scotland would have much closer ties with the European Union and insisted his party is not nationalist.
So, Angus, an independent Scotland wouldn’t really be that independent? Substituting one union for another. I find it utterly absurd that a party, soaked in the nationalist cause, is apparently a) against nationalism and b) are European federalists. In the last several weeks, the SNP have announced a ‘independent Scotland’ would not have monetary or defence freedom and much closer to the European Union. In other words, post-United Kindgom Scotland is hybrid client state of England and the European Union.
This unnecessary complexity and confused approach is probably why support for independence has collapsed.
